News Articles > Johnathan Abram: Seeking Year 2 breakout

(RotoWire) Abram enters his second pro season locked in as the Raiders' starting strong safety, Scott Bair of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Analysis: The 27th overall pick in the 2019 draft suffered a season-ending rotator cuff tear Week 1 last year. A report in early February suggested he was 90 percent healthy and comfortably bench-pressing 185 pounds, so it's safe to assume Abram is back at full strength by this point. He should be locked in as a three-down player, while Damarious Randall, Erik Harris and Jeff Heath are all candidates to start at free safety. Abram looks like the best IDP choice of the group.
