(thehuddle) Free-agent QB Cam Newton (Panthers) reportedly agreed to terms on a one-year contract worth up to $7.5 million with New England Patriots on Sunday, June 28, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Analysis: Well now. This marriage - although not official yet - has been speculated about for a few months, so it's not surprising to see the two sides come together. There will likely be reports from Patriots' camp this summer about having Newton compete for the job with Jarrett Stidham, but he will get the nod in Week 1 if healthy. There is some low-end QB1 fantasy potential here, but his questionable durability is among the reasons he should be treated as a high-upside QB2.
